GHAJINI ***1/2
Cast : Aamir Khan, Asin, Jiah Khan, Pradeep Rawat.
Direction: A.R. Murugadass
Aamir Khan who is known for his uniqueness has created yet another sensational performance. His hard work for almost 13 months of rigorous workout in building his body has really paid off. He is looking stunningly macho man. After all this year 2008 is completely is for skin show for most of the Bollywood stars. This year should be known as Six Pack Year.!
After the spectacular success of Taare Zameen Par, Ghajini has already has its record braking opening . The first day of release on 25th Dec it broke all the records with estimated 40 crore of revenue.
Ghanini is a complete thriller. Aamir Khan’s class act of the hero who switches from a shy, taciturn tycoon who finds love in the a very common ordinary girl- to a vulnerable killing machine who mauls his pray like a wounded tiger. Roars and grunts included!. Aamir Khan hardly speaks in the entire film, he speaks with expressions and his body language. A man who suffers from short term memory loss –just remembers things for 15 minutes. He also doesn’t remember who has killed his beloved(Asin). He has to make marks on his body to remember his past incident to take revenge.
Also scrawls on walls, his un finished desires, his Polaroid snapshots, his fading memory cells and a friendly medical student (Jiah Khan) who also makes thing worst to him to some extent.
After a long time we can see the olden bollywood style of stunts in this film. The film also boasts of a polished act of Asin who makes her debut in Bollywood with a spontaneous rendition of good polite Mumbai girl who breezes her way through like.
So anything wrong in this film, you might ask. Firstly the film needs some tighter editing, specially in the fight sequences. Second, it needed a real bad guy who should live up to the eponymous character, after all he is Mr. Ghajini. Pradeep Rawat with his white shoes, his gold tooth and his behari accent isn’t as menacing as the title would like us to believe. Lastly the fulcrum of the revenge drama, not quite convincing.
All in all, Ghajini is a thorough suspense Bollywood thriller. So its a complete romantic action packed 3 hours and 10 minutes of entertainment.
